REVERSE SAYS NO TO CYBERBULLYING
How I Beat My Cyberbully
There’s nothing than worse than being bullied. I should know, because it happened to me.
At the time I thought no one could help and it would never end – but luckily I was wrong.
The bullying came from nowhere and I didn’t do anything to deserve it. Suddenly, life was hell. From the moment I woke up I’d have a horrible feeling inside, dreading the moment that I’d see my bully.
Then one day I got a text. I don’t know how they got my number but soon I was getting loads of texts every day, e-mails too, and there was even a Bebo group about me. I felt like the whole world was laughing behind my back and I didn’t know who to trust.
When I thought it couldn’t get any worse I found out my friend had forwarded on a video clip of me. I felt totally betrayed but when my I told my friend how upset I was it turned out they didn’t realize how hurtful it was – or even that I was being cyberbullied in the first place.
Once my friend realized how much the cyberbullying was getting to me they helped get a handle on it.

The most important thing is to talk to someone. As well as friends, parents or carers, there are loads of people who can help you:

A teacher or other adult you can trust
-
Don’t retaliate or reply in anger – bullies are looking for a reaction and will soon get bored if you don’t give them what they want.
-
Block the bully’s texts, messages and emails using the settings on your phone, social networking profile and email account.
-
Adjust your privacy settings to high and keep them there.
-
Keep the evidence – learn how to keep records of offending messages, pictures or online conversations
-
Protect your online accounts and keep passwords to yourself. Only give your mobile number or personal website address to trusted friends.
It worked for me and it could work for you too.
The thing to remember is that bullying is nothing to do with you. Bullies like the feeling of power and making themselves feel more popular by making someone else feel unpopular.
